1. How to pay
The enrolment fee must be paid when you enrol and it’s non-refundable. Your course fee must be received by the college at least 14 days before your course commences. Places cannot be held for students until these fees are paid in full. Payment may be made in Australian Dollars by Credit Card (Visa or Master Card only), Cash, Eftpos and Money Order made payable to: The International College of Capoeira P/L.

2. Payment of fees
2.1. The Enrolment Fee and the Accommodation Booking Fee are payable upon application and are non-refundable.
2.2. Course fees are defined to be: those fees payable for course as officially published or provided by The International College of Capoeira Pty Ltd.
2.3. A term is defined as a period of study of approximately 10 weeks, generally between two blocks of holidays.
2.4. Full Course Fees of the student’s initial course, must be received before the courses commence and will be held by The International College of Capoeira Pty Ltd in accordance with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act (2000).
2.5. Course Fees must be paid for at least one term in advance of the term currently being studied.
2.6. All Fees are subject to change without notice. However, fees detailed in a letter of offer issued before the date of change will be honoured by the college for those courses stated on the letter.
2.7. Students repeating units of study will be required to pay for such units on a pro-rata basis, determined by the number of contact hours.
2.8. ICC must receive a signed enrolment form and full payment of course fee's before student is given a CoE.
2.9. Student is not entitled to commence the course until his/her enrolment has been confirmed.

3. Payment of refunds
The following terms and conditions apply if the student withdraws from a course after the payment of all fees. A statement will be issued explaining how the amount has been calculated. The refund will be made in the same currency in which the fees were paid. All matters relating to refund application are to be discussed with the director. All students wishing to apply for a refund must complete the Application for Refund form, which can be obtained by request from the Admin office.

4. Terms of Refund
4.1. Visa Application Refused
All fees less the enrolment fee will be refunded in full.

4.2. Student Default
4.2.1 Prior to Commencement
a. In the event the student cancels their enrolment with at least 28 days or more notice before the course commencement date a refund of 75% of the course fee will be refunded (excluding the enrolment fee).

b. In the event the student cancels their enrolment with less than 28 days prior of course commencement date, the course fees paid (including enrolment fee and deposit) will be non-refundable.

4.2.2 After Commencement
• In the event the student cancels their enrolment and requests a refund after commencement date of the course, no refund will be issued which includes all monies paid for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), airport pick-up, accommodation booking and board, RPL, enrolment and materials fees.
• If a student completes the course early or fast-tracks (does not apply to CRICOS students), the full course fee and materials fees must be paid before any certification is issued.
• If a student changes course after commencement of the course in which they were originally enrolled, they will be subject to the current fee structure. Students are also subject to pay a new materials fee due prior to commencement of their new course.
• Students must adhere to The International College of Capoeira Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may lead to expulsion, in which case there will be no refund of course fees.

4.3. Provider Default
In the event of course not being delivered by ICC
In the unlikely event of default by The International College of Capoeira Pty Ltd, the school will refund all tuition fees paid on a pro-rata basis within two weeks of the date of default. The student will also receive a statement explaining how this refund has been calculated. Provider default can include the course not starting on the agreed starting day, the course ceases to be provided at any time after it starts but before it is completed, the course is not provided in full to the student.

This agreement and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of the student to take action under Australia’s Consumer Protection Laws.

5. Translations
Where there is a difference in meaning or interpretation, the English language version will apply.

6. Suppliers / Homestay
For all students living in a Homestay, the following conditions apply:
5.1. Requests for Homestay accommodation must be received four weeks prior to arrival.
5.2. There is a minimum stay of four weeks which must be paid for in advance. Homestay fees are payable thereon to your host family directly each fortnight, in advance.
5.3. If the request for Homestay accommodation is cancelled after notification of the student’s flight details, or after the student has arrived in Australia, the first 4 weeks of Homestay payment may not be refundable. Extenuating circumstances will be considered if submitted in writing to the Director.
5.4. Students are expected to live according to the house rules of the Homestay family.
5.5. The school reserves the right to deny or cancel Homestay arrangements for students deemed unsuitable.
5.6. The school will find an alternative Homestay for a student who has a valid reason for moving. If a student requests a change of Homestay for any other reason, a further Homestay Booking Fee will be charged.

7. Airport transfers
Airport Transfer must be booked and paid for at the same time as payment of course fees. The cost of transfer is not refundable if the service is not utilised by the student. When a student arrives on a late night flight, it may be necessary for the student to cover the cost of one night’s accommodation in a moderately priced hotel.

8. Privacy policy
Information is collected on this form and during your enrolment in order to meet our obligations under the ESOS Act and the National Code 2007; to ensure student compliance with the conditions of their visas and their obligations under Australian immigration laws generally. The authority to collect this information is contained in the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000, the Education Services for Overseas Students Regulations 2001 and the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007. Information collected about you on this form and during your enrolment can be provided, in certain circumstances, to the Australian Government and designated authorities and, if relevant, the Tuition Assurance Scheme and the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager. In other instances information collected on this form or during your enrolment can be disclosed without your consent where authorised or required by law. The International College of Capoeira Pty Ltd is required by legislation to inform DIAC of certain changes to a student’s enrolment and any breach by a student of a student visa condition relating to attendance or satisfactory academic performance.

9. Resposibilities associated with your visa
If you will be studying with a Student Visa you must note that there are very serious responsibilities associated with this special Visa. These conditions are determined by DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship).

10. Sickness
If you are absent from the college due to sickness, you will be required to contact the college as soon as possible and present a medical certificate to explain your absence. ICC does not have the right to grant you attendance however; medical certificates are submitted to DIAC for consideration if you intend to extend your visa for further studies.

11. Training packaes
A training package describes the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively in the workplace. Training packages specify the combination of competency standards required to achieve a particular qualification.

Training packages are developed by Industry Skills Councils recognised bodies or by enterprises to meet the identified training needs of specific industry sectors. When a training package has been endorsed it is placed on the National Training Information Service (NTIS). All courses at ICC conform to industry standards and are recognised nationally and overseas.

12. Timetable and class commitment
If you have a student Visa, it is a condition of this Visa that you attend the college for a minimum of 20 hours per week except during official college holidays. At ICC you are required to attend 4 (four) hours per day.

In order to complete a subject you are required to attend 4 (four) hours per day which is 20 (twenty)hours per week.

Training is delivered throughout a Term by way of either:

• 4 hours face-to-face classroom theory tuition
• 4 hours face-to-face Capoeira practical tuition

You will receive your individual timetable at orientation session and prior to the commencement of each new term on re-enrolment during your holiday break. Time and date for re-enrolment will be issued to you before completing current term.

If you do not attend the date set out for your re-enrolment and payment is not received your CoE will be cancelled. Unless Compelling or compassionate circumstances apply and evidence has been provided.

13. Student course information
ICC teaches Capoeira through Certificate II, III and IV of Sport (Coaching). 50% of each certificate is based on theory of sport coaching and 50% on Capoeira.

Students start on Monday of the beginning of the each term at 9.00 am, 1pm or 5pm reporting at 12 Wentworth Ave, Darlinghurst, NSW 2010.

During the Orientation Session, students will be introduced to the college policies and procedures and Students will receive a welcome pack containing the Student Handbook, Student Guide, Uniform pack and the Capoeira Code of Conduct. Also receive your User Name and passwords to use the computers and the timetable for the term. This is followed by visiting Student Services, having your photos taken and receiving your ID Card.

14. Courses at ICC
All courses at ICC have been developed from accredited training packages. All qualifications are recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework.

15. Award of qualifications and relevant documentation
At the completion of your Course you will receive one or all of the following documents:
Australian Qualification Framework Qualification (AQF) Certificate
The qualification for which you have enrolled will be awarded only if you have successfully completed all of the standards necessary for that qualification. This will be demonstrated by your achievement of a pass or better and overall award of 'C' in each subject. Your award will stipulate the NTIS code and recognition that the qualification is part of the AQF.

Academic Transcript
Your academic transcript contains information relating to your competency and overall grade for each subject completed. Attached to the transcript is a reference sheet which contains information about each nationally endorsed competency standard outlined in the training packages and covered within each subject. Your transcript also stipulates the date of commencement and completion of your course.

Statement of Attainment
Students who complete some, but not all, competency standards for a qualification are awarded a Statement of Attainment. The Statement of Attainment will indicate the completed subjects. Attached to the Statement of Attainment is a reference sheet which contains information about each nationally endorsed competency standard outlined in the training packages and covered within each subject.

To receive any of the above documentation students must ask at the Reception or from the Student Services Advisor.

If the student chooses to exit the Course at any point after the first six months of the initial enrolment and before the course completion they will be issued a Statement of Attainment for each subject completed.

16. Deferred suspended and canceled enrolments
Scope and Responsibilities

17. Discipline
The college reserves the right to expel any student for bad behavior without any refund of fees.

18. Use of Personal Information
The information provided by the student may be made available to Commonwealth and State Agencies and the Fund Manager of the ESOS Assurance Fund, pursuant to obligations under the ESOS Act 2000 and the National Code; and the provider is required under s19 of the ESOS Act 2000, to inform the Department of Immigration about certain changes to the student’s enrolment and any breach by the student of a student visa condition relating to attendance or unsatisfactory academic performance.

19. Insurance
All students must keep the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) current at all times. The initial payment must accompany your tuition fees. ICC does not accept any responsibility for any damage or injury resulting from an accident outside the college premises.

20. Student visa conditions, Australian Government regulations
All student visas are issued subject to certain conditions that come into effect as soon as the student lands in Australia. It is important that you understand the implications and the penalties that can follow if any of these conditions are breached: The following are the main conditions for student visas. You should not apply for a student visa unless you believe you can abide by them:

  • You must leave Australia before your visa expires
  • You must satisfy course requirements and maintain valid enrolment
  • This means you must attend classes regularly and remain financial at all times
  • You must maintain a satisfactory level of academic progress
  • You and your family members must not work without permission
  • Application for a student visa with permission to work can only be made in Australia after commencing studies
  • If permission to work is granted, you must not work more than 20 hours per week while your course is in session
  • If your family members are given permission to work, they are also registered to work 20 hours per week
  • You must study at the International College of Capoeira for the first 6 months of your principal course or for the duration of the course if it is less than 6 months. Permission to change provider prior to completing 6 months will only be given to the student who has met the requirements in accordance with the Student Transfer/Release Policy of ICC.
  • You must maintain the Overseas Student Health Cover current for the duration of your stay in Australia
  • You must inform your education provider within 7 days of any changes of address

You must always be aware that any breach of the student visa conditions can result in DIAC being notified by the college, your student visa being cancelled and you being asked to leave Australia

21. Working
As a holder of a Student Visa, you are not permitted to work until after you have arrived at the College. Once you have arrived, you can apply to Immigration for permission to work. When this permission is granted, you are allowed to work part time (up to 20 hours per week) provided this does not interfere with your studies. If you breach this condition and are caught working in excess of 20 hours, this may result in a cancellation of your Student Visa.

22. Holidays
It is a condition of your Visa that you take holidays from your course only during official College breaks (except due to exceptional circumstances usually beyond your control). You should therefore plan your visits home during these times only.

23. Australian Qualification Framework (AQF)
The AQF covers qualifications issued by secondary schools, Vocational Education and Training Providers (VET) and higher education institutions. All qualifications are nationally recognised.

Within the Framework, there are six VET qualifications available:

  • Certificate I, II, III, IV
  • Diploma
  • Advanced Diploma

ICC is a Registered Training Organization (RTO) under the Australian Recognition Framework.

Provision of Language, Literacy and Numeracy Support
Language, Literacy and Numeracy support is accessible to all Vocational College students by Transfer to the English Department if language proficiency problem still exists.
